Flooring accessories — care, adhesives, insulation

The right accessories make the result

The right accessories determine the final result — from quality parquet adhesive and impact-sound insulation to maintenance oils and soaps. Terris Timber stocks only genuine manufacturer products — everything a professional installation and years of proper floor care require.

We choose proven quality: WOCA care products from Denmark, Berger Seidle adhesives from Germany and natural-rubber impact-sound insulation. Not sure what you need? Get in touch — we'll advise you based on your floor type and installation method.

Care oils and soaps — oil or soap?

Oiled wood floors are maintained with two different products, and one does not replace the other. WOCA wood floor soap is the everyday product: it cleans the surface while feeding it at the same time, and is recommended for regular damp mopping (diluted in water). Use it often — weekly, or as needed.

WOCA maintenance oil is used far less frequently — a few times a year, or whenever the surface starts to look dry, dull or worn in high-traffic areas. The oil rebuilds the wood's protective layer and enlivens the natural grain. The rule is simple: soap for cleaning, oil for renewal. Choose both to match your floor's tone (natural, white or tinted).

Parquet adhesive — when parquet needs to be glued

Not every floor is glued down. Click-system parquet and vinyl are normally laid floating, without adhesive. However, herringbone and chevron parquet, XL boards and large-format tiles are bonded directly to the subfloor — for stability, heat transfer and quietness.

For parquet we recommend Berger Seidle M1X flexible parquet adhesive from Germany (a roughly 21 kg tub covers ~15–20 m²). It is low-emission and EMICODE EC1 certified — safe for residential use. Glued parquet is especially well suited to underfloor heating, as it eliminates the air gap between board and subfloor.

Impact-sound insulation and underlay

When laying click parquet or click vinyl without an integrated underlay floating, impact-sound insulation is recommended. It dampens footfall noise, protects against moisture rising from the subfloor and evens out minor irregularities.

Our natural-rubber insulation reduces impact sound by up to 28 dB — an excellent solution for apartment buildings and upper-floor rooms. Important: if your vinyl already has an integrated acoustic underlay, do not add another layer — a second underlay can compromise the stability of the click joints. It's an easy mistake to make, so talk to us before you buy.

Installation tools and skirting boards

Beyond adhesive and insulation, a successful installation calls for the right tools: a tapping block and mallet to close the click joints without damaging the edges, spacer wedges to maintain the expansion gap along the walls, and a pull bar to lock the final row into place.

The finishing touch is skirting boards matched to your floor's tone — smoked oak suits dark parquet, while natural oak or a white profile suits lighter floors. Skirting conceals the expansion gap along the walls and gives the interior a finished look.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between care soap and maintenance oil?+
WOCA soap is for everyday and weekly cleaning — it gently cleans while feeding the wood surface. WOCA maintenance oil is used a few times a year, when the surface looks dry or worn — it rebuilds the protective layer. In short: soap for cleaning, oil for renewal.
Which adhesive do I need?+
For parquet (especially herringbone, XL formats and glue-down boards) we recommend Berger Seidle M1X parquet adhesive from Germany — a roughly 21 kg tub covers ~15–20 m². It is low-emission and EMICODE EC1 certified. Click-system parquet and vinyl normally need no adhesive.
Do I need impact-sound insulation?+
If you're laying click parquet or click vinyl without an integrated underlay floating, insulation is recommended. Our natural-rubber insulation reduces impact sound by up to 28 dB and protects against moisture. If your vinyl already has an integrated underlay, don't add another layer.
How do I choose the right skirting boards?+
Choose skirting to match your floor's tone: smoked oak suits dark parquet, while natural oak or a white profile suits lighter floors. Skirting conceals the expansion gap along the walls and gives the installation a finished look.
Can I order accessories on their own?+
Yes. We deliver across the EU in 5–7 working days for a flat 199 € — free on orders over 2 500 €. We're planning to open a showroom in Kaunas towards the end of 2026; until then, we're happy to advise by phone on +370 628 11029 or at info@terristimber.lt.
